City Walk Parking: Fees, Free Hour and Coca-Cola Arena

How City Walk's barrierless parking works: the free first hour, AED 5 an hour after, The Boulevard and Coca-Cola Arena rates, and paying in a rental car.

City Walk parking changed in July 2026. The main car parks are now barrierless: cameras read your number plate on the way in and out, the first hour is free and every hour after that costs AED 5, taken from your Parkin account. The Boulevard and Coca-Cola Arena run on different systems with different prices, so where you park at City Walk decides what you pay and how you pay it.

This guide sets out what City Walk, Coca-Cola Arena and the news reports actually say, how to pay without a Parkin wallet, and what is different when you drive a rental car, because the payment message goes to the car's registered owner, not to you.

The short version

  • Main City Walk car parks: first hour free, then AED 5 an hour or part of an hour, VAT included. Paid through Parkin, with no ticket and no barrier.

  • The Boulevard: first 30 minutes free, then AED 20 an hour, charged to the Salik account linked to the plate.

  • Validation: Roxy Cinemas, The Green Planet and selected outlets can validate your parking. City Walk says spending at least AED 50 at a participating outlet gets you three free hours on The Boulevard.

  • Coca-Cola Arena: its own car park is limited, charged by the hour to Salik, and overnight parking is charged AED 200.

  • In a rental car, pay in the Parkin app yourself using the plate number, because the SMS payment link goes to the owner's phone, not yours.

City Walk parking: the first hour free, then AED 5 an hour

Parkin, Dubai's largest public parking operator, built the new system with City Walk. Khaleej Times and Gulf News both reported on 11 July 2026 that City Walk parking is now ticketless and barrierless. The first hour is free, and each hour or part of an hour after that costs AED 5, which Gulf News says already includes VAT. City Walk's own FAQ gives the same figures.

There is no ticket to keep and no machine to queue at. Cameras log your plate as you drive in and again as you leave, and the charge is worked out from the time in between. Note the words 'part of an hour': an hour and five minutes counts as two hours, so one free hour and one paid hour, AED 5.

How you pay

City Walk's FAQ sets out the routes, in this order:

  1. Parkin wallet. Download the Parkin app, register the car, switch on auto payment and top up the wallet. The fee comes out of the wallet when you leave.

  2. SMS link. If there is no active wallet, an SMS with a payment link is sent to the number registered to the car's owner.

  3. QR code. Scan the QR code displayed in the lifts and near the exits to pay directly. Enter the plate number using numbers only, no letters, and pick the country or city from the list rather than typing it. You then have 15 minutes to leave.

If you already pay for street parking in the Parkin app, this works the same way. Our guide to how to pay for parking in Dubai walks through setting the app up.

Validation and free hours

City Walk says visitors to Roxy Cinemas, The Green Planet and selected participating outlets can validate their parking. Gulf News adds that validation is done against your number plate, through the Parkin app or at a participating outlet, and that a validated car is recognised automatically after that. Ask at the counter before you pay the bill, not at the exit, because there is no exit barrier where you could sort it out.

Parking on The Boulevard

The Boulevard, the street-level part of City Walk, has its own rules. City Walk's FAQ says the first 30 minutes are free and each hour after that is charged at AED 20 from your Salik account. Khaleej Times quoted the same figures in July 2026. Spend at least AED 50 at a participating outlet and you can validate the first three hours, making them free.

The basement bays under some Boulevard buildings are different again. Gulf News reported in February 2026 that Parkonic runs pre-booked VIP parking there, reserved and paid in its app before use, and that overstaying or parking without a booking is charged AED 60 an hour or part of an hour through Salik. Do not pull into one of those bays without a booking.

For a short stop, The Boulevard is fine. For a meal and a film, the main car parks charge a quarter of the hourly price.

Coca-Cola Arena parking

Coca-Cola Arena sits inside City Walk, and its car park is run separately. The arena's own FAQ says:

  • Parking is limited, paid and first come, first served, with fees applying 24 hours a day, every day, including weekends and public holidays.

  • Your number plate is your ticket, and the fee is charged to the Salik account linked to the plate by default.

  • Any part of an hour is billed as a full hour. On non-event days the FAQ lists AED 6 to AED 12 an hour, depending on the day and time, and says rates may be different on event days.

  • Overnight parking is not allowed and is charged AED 200 per vehicle per night.

  • There is no valet parking for public events, but there is a drop-off zone in front of entrances A, B and C.

The arena's visitor page lists City Walk parking about 4 minutes' walk away and an RTA car park about 5 minutes away, and says the Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa metro station is a few minutes' walk. On a sold-out night, arrive early or leave the car at home: the arena itself advises public transport where possible. If your plans change after a late show, move the car before morning rather than risk the overnight charge.

Getting to City Walk by car

City Walk's FAQ says it is reached from Sheikh Zayed Road through exit D71 towards Jumeirah. The nearest metro station is Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall on the Red Line, which City Walk describes as a short drive away and the arena as a few minutes' walk. City Walk lists valet parking among its amenities, but publishes no price, so ask the valet before you hand over the key.

Parking a rental car at City Walk

The systems at City Walk know a number plate, not a driver, and they bill whoever the plate belongs to. On a rental car that is us. Three things follow.

  • The SMS will not reach you. At the main car parks, an unpaid stay triggers an SMS to the owner's registered number, which is ours. Pay it yourself: add the plate to your own Parkin app, or scan the QR code in the lift and enter the plate before you leave.

  • Salik charges land on our account. The Boulevard and Coca-Cola Arena charge the Salik account linked to the plate, and every car in our fleet carries a tag on an account we hold. That is parking, not a toll crossing, so ask us how it is billed when you book rather than assuming it works like Salik.

  • Check the plate after a swap. If we swap your car during the rental, the plate changes, and the one saved in your app is suddenly the wrong one. Update it the same day.

If a parking charge goes unpaid and becomes a fine, it is billed to you, itemised. Paying the AED 5 on the way out is always cheaper. For other busy car parks, see our guides to Dubai mall parking and Dubai beach parking.

Renting a car in Dubai?

Our monthly rentals start at AED 1,699 a month, including VAT, comprehensive insurance, registration, routine maintenance, 24/7 roadside assistance and 3,500 km a month on most cars. The deposit is AED 1,500 refundable on most cars, or you can choose the optional zero-deposit plan for about AED 255 a month more. Fuel is same-to-same: we record the level at handover and you bring it back at that level, and the difference is charged if it is lower. Salik is recharged at cost plus AED 1 per crossing, itemised. Traffic fines are billed to you, itemised. Delivery and collection are around Downtown Dubai and nearby, and the rest of Dubai on request.

We are Urban Go Car Rentals, an RTA-authorised dealer and agency in Port Saeed, Dubai. Every rental is made on a signed Urban Go rental contract. Have a look at our weekly rentals, our monthly rentals or the full fleet, or message us on WhatsApp on +971 50 500 3965 and a person will answer.
