Renting with Urban Go
Coverage and protection
Two different things protect you in a rental car. Insurance is the policy our insurer writes on every car; it is included and it has an excess. Coverage and protection are Urban Go's own options that lower or remove what you pay when something happens. This page sets out both, so the cover card on your quote never has to explain itself.
Coverage and protection
Included with every rental
Every Urban Go car is insured by our insurer on a comprehensive fleet policy, inside the UAE, for the drivers named on the agreement. Third-party property damage is covered up to AED 2,000,000. The insurer pays against a police report and applies an excess; the cover option you choose decides how much of that excess is yours.
- Comprehensive motor insurance by the Owner's insurer, on its terms, inside the UAE
- Third-party liability as the law requires
- Windscreen and window breakage with a police report, up to AED 3,000, no excess
- Natural events while parked, with a police report
- Theft, with a police report and all keys returned
- Breakdown assistance for a fault of the car itself, at any hour
- Drivers under 25 bear the extra 10 percent of a claim the insurer applies
Personal belongings are not covered. Cars sourced from a licensed partner follow the partner's policy; your quote says so.
Cover options
One of these is on every quote. They are liability-reduction products, not insurance: they cap or remove your contribution to a repair when there is a police report. Names follow the ACRISS coverage dictionary used across the rental industry, with the plain name beside the code.
| Option | Excess | Price | What it includes | Not included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| StandardIncluded with every rental | Excess: As printed on your quote | Price: Included |

On an at-fault accident, Standard and CDW also carry downtime at the Prevailing Daily Rate for the repair days, diminished value on larger repairs and a damage administration fee, as listed on the fees page. SCDW and Ultimate Cover waive all three. Without a valid police report no option applies and the full cost is yours.
Protection add-ons
Three add-ons for the things an excess does not reach. Each can be taken with Standard, CDW or SCDW; all three are included in Ultimate Cover. Prices are flat: per month on monthly plans, per rental on daily and weekly rentals, shown on each car's quote. Glass and tyre protection taken together is the industry's WUG, Wheels, Undercarriage and Glass, at a lower combined price where the car offers one.
| Protection | What it covers | What you do | Offered with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glass protection | Windscreen, windows and mirrors without a police report, and glass above the insurer's limit | Stop driving and send photographs within 24 hours | Standard, CDW, SCDW; included in Ultimate Cover |
| Tyres, rims and underbody protection | Tyres, rims and underbody, replaced or repaired like for like | Stop driving and send photographs within 24 hours | Standard, CDW, SCDW; included in Ultimate Cover |
| Roadside Assistance ProtectionRAP | One call-out caused by you per rental cycle inside Dubai, with no call-out charge: flat battery, lockout, out of fuel, puncture | Call the assistance line and wait with the car; parts, fuel, tyres and towing outside Dubai at cost | Standard, CDW, SCDW; included in Ultimate Cover |
One protected incident per rental cycle: per rental on daily and weekly rentals, per 30-day cycle on monthly plans. A second incident in the same cycle is at cost.
No protection applies to damage from off-road or prohibited use, overloading, deliberate damage or negligence, or to damage inconsistent with your account or the handover photographs.
Windscreen or window breakage with a police report, where it is the only damage, costs nothing under every option up to the insurer's AED 3,000 limit. Glass protection is for the cases outside that: no report, a mirror, or an amount above the limit.
At cost under every option
These are losses the insurer excludes or that only the driver can prevent, so no option prices them in.
- Keys, fobs and remotes
- Roof and interior damage
- Mechanical damage from misuse: wrong fuel, driving on after a warning light, clutch or transmission
- Driving into standing water or a flooded road
- Recovery, storage and call-outs the Owner arranges outside an insured claim
Storm, hail, rain or flood damage is covered with a police report at the excess of your option. Driving into standing water is treated as negligence and is at cost under every option.
Theft follows the excess of your option, provided you file the police report, return every key and give the insurer every detail it asks for. Otherwise you owe the insured value of the car.
A call-out you cause (flat battery, lockout, out of fuel, puncture) is charged at cost at any hour; one per rental cycle inside Dubai carries no call-out charge with Roadside Assistance Protection or Ultimate Cover. Breakdown of the car itself is always included.
The binding wording is clause 7 of the Terms and Conditions; the amounts are on the fees page, and the renting guide explains the rest in plain language. Your quote and your signed Summary state the option and the excess that apply to your rental.
