Car rental in Bluewaters: monthly prices

Bluewaters is a small island with a direct road to Sheikh Zayed Road, so a car is the simplest way to get to work, school and the rest of Dubai. These cars suit life here, from a family SUV and a seven-seater to a premium saloon and a luxury SUV.

The BMW X5 is priced by the month, and its daily and weekly rates are on request. The other four have published daily and weekly rates for a shorter stay. If you would rather keep costs down, the full fleet starts at AED 1,699 a month with the MG 5. A full month is usually the best value, because the monthly price works out far cheaper per day than daily rental.

Getting around Bluewaters

Bluewaters is a man-made island about 400 metres off the coast of JBR, close to Dubai Marina. A direct road links it to Sheikh Zayed Road, and a 265-metre pedestrian bridge connects it to The Beach at JBR. The island is home to Ain Dubai, apartments, two beach hotels and The Wharf, a waterfront strip of shops and restaurants.

There is no metro station on the island. The nearest Red Line station is DMCC, and published drive times to it differ, so we give a range. The F57 bus links the island to the metro, and the RTA water bus and Dubai Ferry also call here. Approximate off-peak times:

Parking on the island is covered and underground on two basement levels, with ground-level bays near the restaurants and attractions. Bluewaters' own visitor pages say entry and exit are ticketless, read by number plate, and that underground parking costs AED 20 an hour, with up to three hours free when you spend at least AED 100 at a participating outlet. We deliver across the island: Bluewaters Residences, Bluewaters Bay, Banyan Tree Residences, Banyan Tree Dubai, Delano Dubai and The Wharf. Delivery costs from AED 100 depending on the exact location, and collection at the end of the rental is AED 25 more. Whether you pass a Salik gate depends on where you are going and which road you take, and any crossings are passed through at cost plus AED 1 each, itemised on your statement.

How to rent a car in Bluewaters

1. Send your address and dates on WhatsApp. Tell us which car, how long you need it and your building or hotel. We reply with the full price.
2. Share your documents. A photo of each is enough to prepare the contract.
3. Sign and take the keys. We bring the car and the RTA contract to your building, walk round the car with you and hand over.

What is included and what you pay separately

• Salik at cost plus AED 1 per crossing, parking, and any traffic fines, billed to you itemised

Car swaps during the rental are usually available, but never guaranteed.

Monthly car rental in Bluewaters, or longer

A single month covers a move onto the island, a long stay at one of the hotels or a car in the workshop. Committing to three months or more brings the monthly price down, and for six months or longer a lease usually works out cheapest. Documents you need

• UAE residents: Emirates ID and a UAE driving licence.
• Visitors: passport, visa or entry stamp and your home licence, plus an International Driving Permit only if your licence is not on the recognised list.
