Sharjah Parking Fine Check: How to Look Up, Pay and Dispute a Fine
Where to check a Sharjah parking fine, how to pay it, how the camera car parks differ, how to dispute a fine, and what is true about discounts.

A Sharjah parking fine check is done on Sharjah Municipality's fines search, which is separate from Dubai's systems and from Sharjah Police. It finds a fine by the plate number or by the fine number. The amount shows on screen and you can pay it there.
This guide covers where to check, how to pay, how the newer camera-run car parks differ, how to dispute a fine you think is wrong, and what is true about discounts. If you are driving a rental car into Sharjah, there is a section at the end on what changes when the car is not registered to you. For the parking rules themselves - hours, zones and prices - see our Sharjah parking guide.
The short version
Check on Sharjah Municipality's fines search by plate number or fine number - you need the issuing emirate, the plate code, the category and the number.
Pay on the same page, through the municipality's channels, or in person at a municipality customer happiness centre.
On the municipality's list, the fine is AED 150 for no valid ticket and AED 100 for overstaying.
To dispute a fine, Sharjah Municipality says to call or visit its call centre on 993.
No standing discount on municipal parking fines turned up in our research. The 2025 discount reported by Khaleej Times and Aletihad is described as covering traffic fines.
Where to check a Sharjah parking fine
Parking fines in Sharjah are issued by Sharjah Municipality, so they are looked up on the municipality's own fines search, not on the police or RTA services. The search takes either a fine number or a plate number. For a plate search you choose the source (the emirate that issued the plate), the plate code, the category (private, taxi and so on) and then type the number. It also asks for a mobile number and an email address.
Gulf News's walkthrough of the same service says that if the municipality has a fine on record for the plate, the violation and the amount appear on screen, and that a confirmation arrives by SMS and email once you pay.
A plate search finds every fine on record for the car, including one you have no paper for. When Sharjah Municipality announced a one-off fines discount in 2023, it also listed the Ministry of Interior's website and app and the Digital Sharjah platform among the places its fines can be checked and paid.
How to pay it
There are three routes, and none of them needs a visit unless you want one.
Online, on the municipality's fines page. Search, then pay on the same page.
In person. Gulf News lists Sharjah Municipality customer happiness centres as the counter option, and the municipality's 2023 notice names its kiosks and approved service centres.
Through an app. Gulf News reports that the municipality's Mawqef app, which runs the camera-based car parks, also takes parking fine payments, by card or e-wallet.
Before paying, read the violation it shows. On the municipality's published list, failing to buy and display a valid ticket is AED 150 and overstaying the time on a ticket is AED 100. Stopping on the pavement or at the roadside is AED 500, and parking in a bay for People of Determination without a permit is AED 1,000. If the amount on your fine matches none of those, the violation is something else and worth reading in full.
The camera car parks work differently
Sharjah has been opening barrier-free smart car parks, where cameras read the plate on the way in and on the way out. Gulf News describes how they work: the system works out how long the car stayed, the vehicle owner then receives a notification of the fee, and the fee is checked and paid in the Mawqef app, using its parking lot inquiry option and the plate number.
Gulf News also reports a 72-hour grace period before a fine is issued in these car parks, so an unpaid stay is a fee first and a fine only later. It is the only outlet we found stating that window, so check the app on the day rather than leaning on it.
On the ordinary street bays the rule is tighter: Gulf News has reported a ten-minute window to start paying, which our Sharjah parking guide covers in full.
How to dispute a Sharjah parking fine
Sharjah Municipality's public parking department addresses one case directly. If you paid by smsParking and still received a violation, it says it will cancel a wrongly issued fine where the vehicle had a valid session when the violation was recorded. For that or any other dispute, it says you can raise it by calling or visiting the municipality's call centre on 993.
Before you call, have these ready:
the fine number, or the plate details you searched with
the date, time and place shown on the fine
your proof - the smsParking confirmation message, a ticket, or a subscription
None of the sources we used gives a deadline for disputing a fine, so do not assume you have long. Raise it as soon as you see it, and keep any payment confirmation messages until your rental or your trip is well behind you.
Is there a discount on Sharjah parking fines?
Not one we could find for parking fines today. Two past announcements are worth knowing about.
In July 2025 the Sharjah Executive Council approved a discount reported by both Khaleej Times and Aletihad: 35 per cent if a fine is paid within 60 days of the violation, and 25 per cent on the fine alone if paid after 60 days but within a year. Both reports describe it as a discount on traffic fines, and neither says whether it covers municipal parking fines. Ask 993 before you count on it.
Sharjah Municipality did run a 50 per cent discount on its own fines, parking included, in 2023 - but only on violations issued before 5 September 2023, and it ended on 3 December 2023. It was a one-off.
If you are driving a rental car
On one of our cars, the car is registered to Urban Go, not to you, so any notification that goes to the vehicle owner, such as the camera car park fee notice described above, comes to us. The simplest protection is to run the plate through the municipality's search yourself before a long rental ends.
Sharjah parking is paid by you, to the municipality, from your own phone. Sharjah Municipality's smsParking FAQ says that non-private UAE plates and GCC plates must register on its website before using the SMS service, so if the SMS is refused, call 993 and check how the plate is classed. If a Sharjah parking fine does land on the car, traffic fines are billed to you, itemised.
Renting a car in Dubai?
Our monthly rentals start at AED 1,699 a month, including VAT, comprehensive insurance, registration, routine maintenance, 24/7 roadside assistance and 3,500 km a month on most cars. The deposit is AED 1,500 refundable on most cars, or no deposit at all for about AED 255 a month more. Fuel is same-to-same: we record the level at handover and you bring it back at that level, and the difference is charged if it is lower. Salik is recharged at cost plus AED 1 per crossing, itemised. Traffic fines are billed to you, itemised. Delivery and collection are around Downtown Dubai and nearby, and the rest of Dubai on request.
We are Urban Go Car Rentals, an RTA-authorised dealer and agency in Port Saeed, Dubai. Every rental is made on a signed Urban Go rental contract. Have a look at the fleet, our weekly rentals or our monthly rentals, or message us on WhatsApp on +971 50 500 3965 and a person will answer.
